A personal message from 3D2AG

Following recent tragic events suffered by Antoine 3D2AG and his family, then an amazing show of support from within the ham radio world, today DX-World received a lovely email from Antoine who is now home.

“Just back in Suva, Fiji and had internet since Tuesday evening. I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of sympathy messages, kind words, moral support and generous donations by the Amateur Radio Community after the tragic personal loss I suffered whilst in Rotuma.

I wish to express my most profound gratitude and appreciation to all the radio friends who have shown their support to me at this most difficult time in my life. To know that I have so many genuine friends all over the world is really a humbling experience and a wonderful tribute to the solidarity of our great hobby in times of crisis. Whilst the pain of the loss of my dear little boy is with me every moment at this time, the words and gestures of comfort and support will never be forgotten.

My son, as his younger brother, had a great interest to become an amateur radio operator, and we can only pray that the wishes of my remaining child be one day fulfilled, and his emotional wounds healed.

In one year’s time, as per the local custom, we shall return to Rotuma to lay the tombstone on the grave of Rehanisi, whose name means love and compassion in Rotuman. A truly fitting description of the angel he was, and will always remain in our hearts. Again, our most sincere gratitude to all for such a demonstration of fraternal support in this most difficult period”.

Most gratefully, Antoine 3D2AG and Arnold
