YB Land DX Club DX-ing Is Our Life
Bhumibol Adulyadej HS1A (Thai: ภูมิพลอดุลยเดช; / Phumiphon Adunyadet, he was born on 5th December 1927. His majesty King of Thailand is Silent Key on 13 th October 2016. He was the ninth monarch of Thailand from the Chakri Dynasty as Rama IX.
The King of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej HS1A was issued with an ARRL Advanced license in 1987.
At its peak Thailand had about 248,000 amateur radio licenses although this has fallen recently to about 108,000. The population of the country is about 67 million, similar to the UK.
In their submission to the 15th IARU R3 conference the RAST reported that in May 2012 Thailand had 246,959 radio amateurs holding the Basic entry level license and 717 Intermediate and Reciprocal HF license holders.
Yet, the people and Amateur Radio of Thailand were having a great loss and our deep condolence to the Nation for his Majesty King of Thailand’s Silent Key. May he rest in peace.
